What's Up SETX?

October kicks off the holiday season, right? You may now get all of your Halloween decor out without judgement. As we try to return to "normal" outside of our homes, while still practicing CDC recommended social distancing, we wanted to put a list together of things happening in Southeast Texas. Here are some events going on this month. Don’t forget to mask up!

Beaumont Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Join Education First's Team from 9 AM – 12:30 PM on October 10. Meet us at Best Hospice Care of Texas located at 3120 Fannin Street in Beaumont for the virtual kick-off party followed by a walk on the track across the street. The walk will be followed by lunch and an ice cream truck. Don’t feel comfortable in a crowd? No worries! You can take the walk to your own sidewalk or track and donate to the fundraiser online.

Grand Opening of the Pumpkin Patch at Wesley UMC

It is the event every Fall-loving, Southeast Texan waits for. The Pumpkin Patch at Wesley UMC opens to the public on October 10 at 12 PM located at 3810 North Major Drive in Beaumont. Get your photoshoot outfit and pumpkin carving tools ready! Learn more here.

Beaumont Oktoberfest

The annual Oktoberfest in Beaumont’s Rogers Park is happening October 10 and 17 at 3 PM. Families welcomed with live music, food and fun. Read more here.

Blue Crew Car Wash Haunted Tunnel

The Haunted Tunnel will take place October 23, 24, 30, and 31 from 8 PM – 11 PM. For $20 per car, join if you dare for a Halloween scare! This special effect event will be located at 6045 Folsom Drive in Beaumont. Read more details here.

First Annual Fall Festival at MacKenzie’s Pub

MacKenzie’s at Brentwood Country Club is hosting an all-day, fun-filled Fall Festival on October 24 from 11 AM – 7 PM. Come for the food specials and stay for the local live music, games and prizes. RSVP on Facebook here.

Cirque Spooktacular

Goblins doing acrobatics, a violinist who plays from a trapeze, jugglers and strongmen perform feats choreographed to symphonic music that celebrates the mystery of Halloween. Kids and adults come dressed in your costume on October 24 at 7:30 at Beaumont Civic Center. Tickets will be available here.

Channel your creative side at Painting with a Twist

Painting with a Twist hosts themed painting events almost every night of the month! Any skill level can come to put their own twist on a canvas with many Halloween themed nights in October. Watch E.T. at the Drive-In

World Gym is hosting a drive-in movie where they will play E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial for free on October 30 from 6:45 – 9:15 PM. There will be Truck or Treat and a costume contest for the kids! Located at 229 Dowlen Road, Suite 5 in Beaumont. RSVP on Facebook here.

The Haunted Hotel

The premier haunted attraction in Southeast Texas every Halloween is back and bigger than ever. The Haunted Hotel is raising the scare factor this season by adding the Rosehill Asylum to the second floor. This attraction isn’t for the faint of heart! Several ticketing options can be found here.

Trunk or Treating Around Town

Want a fun and safe night of trick or treating for the kiddos? Swing by FBC Loeb located at 3082 Highway 69 South in Lumberton on October 24 from 4 PM - 6 PM. There will be plenty of sweet treats and decorated cars to enjoy. RSVP on Facebook here.

Cornerstone Baptist Church located at 1600 Pine Street in Kountze is also hosting a Trunk or Treat on Halloween night from 6 PM – 8 PM to get your supply of free candy and fun! Costumes encouraged at this special trunk or treat. Read more here.

Meal Prep for a Cause!

Planning your meals during the work week can be exhausting! What if we told you that you could mark two meals off your list while also giving back to the community? Education First is supporting the annual Girls' Haven Gumbo Festival. Chicken and sausage gumbo can be puchased fresh or frozen for $15 a quart and will be delivered October 29.
