This week is National Volunteer week, so what better time than to blow the horns of our amazing employees who volunteer on their own time to imporove the quality of life for others in the Southeast Texas community. Through our Volunteer Investment Program (VIP),
our employees have volunteered over 3,500
hours to projects and organizations in Southeast Texas since 2015.
In the first three months of 2021, our employees volunteered 173
hours. They have supported so many great causes in our community from serving at Southeast Texas Food Bank, delivering food with Meals on Wheels, helping to clean up at Village Creek, fellowshipping with our community at Lamar University and more!
Meals on Wheels
A favorite volunteer opportunity of our employees is delivering Meals on Wheels for Nutrition and Services for Seniors
. In the first quarter our employees spent 42 hours delivering meals to home-bound, disabled adults in Beaumont. Our volunteers have designated delivery routes that they serve weekly. Our volunteers enjoy forming connections with the seniors they serve; they even delivered Valentine’s Day cards in February to show them some extra love!
Education is at the core of everything we do. For that reason, Lamar University
holds a special place in our hearts. Our employees volunteered 32.5 hours in the first quarter at Lamar University. We set up at LAMARdi Gras this year to handout giveaways to incoming students and to spread the word about the services we offer. We are also a sponsor of Lamar Athletics
, so our VIPs had a blast handing out backpacks at the gate during the Lamar vs. Sam Houston men's basketball game in March. Our employees also enjoyed cooking up and serving nachos while tailgating before the game! We hope to see you all during the fall season! #LetsGoBigRed
Southeast Texas Foodbank
We are huge fans of the Southeast Texas Food Bank
and the work they do for our community! During Q1 our employees not only helped pack boxes of food for families across SETX, but also helped to maintain the enrichment garden. The Food Bank is always looking for volunteers, so if you’re interested be sure to visit their website and sign up!
What better way to volunteer than to spend time with our members and community? We love setting up at local festivals in our area and giving away EFFCU swag. In March, our volunteers set up at the Azalea Festival in Jasper and passed out all sorts of fun giveaways.
Village Creek Workday
Our employees are not afraid to get their hands dirty. Our VIPs volunteered their time cleaning up paths at Village Creek
. They had such a great time serving in March that they did it again in April! We look forward to continuing to keep our community beautiful!
Silsbee Chili Cookoff
The Silsbee Chamber of Commerce
hosted a Chili Cookoff as part of the Save the Pines Project
. Not only are we good at serving your financial needs, but our employees can also cook and serve up some GOOD chili!
A HUGE thank you again to our employees who spend so much of their personal time serving our community. We are so grateful to you and the work that you do. We hope to see you out in the community as we continue to serve. Keep up with us on social media
to find out where we'll be next!
