And so Education First offers 3 ways to protect your investments. It's worth paying a few dollars to know that you have the right protection if something should ever go wrong.

Your car is probably your second most expensive asset, just behind your house. Your regular auto insurance policy might not cover as much as you think. Insurance options through Education First can provide what you need.

Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP)

GAP makes sure you're fully compensated if you're the victim of auto theft or in a serious accident.
  • GAP covers the difference between your insurance settlement and auto loan balance if your car is damaged beyond repair or stolen and never recovered
  • GAP Advantage provides you with up to $500 towards your insurance deductible and a $1,000 credit towards the financing of a replacement vehicle
  • Ask about GAP when you're applying for your next auto loan

Mechanical Breakdown Protection

Given all the technology involved, today's cars can be incredibly expensive to fix. Mechanical Breakdown Protection is an extended warranty that covers the cost of major repairs. Our Route 66 Extended Warranty Plans come with three coverage levels -Easy Street, Main Street and First Street.
  • All plans have a $0 deductible
  • Rental car reimbursement is included in all three plans
  • If your vehicle is disabled, Emergency Roadside Assistance Service covers up to $50 per incident.
  • Mechanical Breakdown Coverage can be purchased at any time, not just when you first purchase you vehicle. There are plans for both new and used vehicles
  • Plans include battery repair or replacement ($65 limit)
  • A total loss refund option is available. The policy holder will be refunded the full purchase price of the service agreement if the vehicle is considered a total loss by an insurance provider due to collision or acts of God
  • Repairs may be completed at any licensed repair facility in the U.S. Payment is made directly to the repair facility
  • Any remaining coverage under the contract can be transferred to a new private owner prior to the contract expiration date for a fee of $50
  • There is no limit on the number of times you can use your Route 66 Extended Warranty Plan

Credit Life and Disability

Life isn't perfect. Accidents happen. Could your family afford to pay off your loans if something were to happen to you?
  • Credit Life and Disability Plans cover applicable loan payments for Education First members in the event of their disability or death
  • Plan premiums are usually only a few cents per $100 of your loan
  • Premiums can be rolled into the initial loan amount
  • Pre-existing conditions are covered
  • The Credit Life and Disability Plan has no effect on your other insurance policies
